Survive and Revive - at the Women's Community Centre in Adelaide
This week Learning Works visits the Women's Community Centre in the Adelaide
suburb of Stepney - the coordinator Mandy Lyons speaks about the women
who come to the Centre and the opportunities for growth and friendship
in a safe environment.

Employers are realising that unstressed employees work better - and
one of the greatest stresses can be about handling our personal financies.
How can I pay that bill? Why can't I save? How do I get through when
my credit cards are up to the limit? The mobile phone bill is out of
control! Catherine Birchall is Chief Executive Officer of Money for
Life; she speaks here with Tony Ryan in Melbourne about financial literacy
and about a workplace training program to assist employees manage their
personal finances better.

Learning Journeys - Part 5 - Streets of Learning
How many learning opportunities exist in or near your street or neighbourhood?
Streets of Learning is an initiative across South Australia, as part
of Adult Learners Week 2006. In this program Tony Ryan speaks to two
managers of Community Centres - one in regional SA and the other in
metropolitan Adelaide, and with Marie Smith from the Community and Neighbourhood
Houses and Centres Association of SA about some good ideas for celebrating
Streets of Learning.

Re-imagining Educational Leadership - with Professor Brian Caldwell
In July and August, Professor Brian Caldwell has been visiting every
state and territory, presenting a series of workshops under the title
Re-imagining Educational Leadership. Organised by the Australian College
of Educators, these workshops explore our school systems and educational
leadership at a time of ongoing chenge. The second and final part of
this extended interview will be broadcast in the week beginning Monday
28 August.

Social History
The early days - a short history of Geelong
With much discussion these days on the teaching of history, it is interesting
to hear about the beginnings of a region in Australia from the perspective
of someone who has lived there for many years. In Learning Works this week,
Tony Ryan speaks with the president of the Geelong Historical society
Peter Allsop about the early history of Geelong and the importance of
the railway between Geelong and Melbourne.
