The Reading Writing Hotline
Just imagine a father who is asked by his young son to read him a story - and just can't do it! Many people hide their reading and writing problems, until they are faced with a situation like that at home, or at work. This week in Learning Works, Tony Ryan speaks with Steve Goldberg, the national coordinator of the Rading Writing Hotline.

Abuse of Elderly People -It's Not OK!
The physical and even sexual abuse of children has been much in the news of late. However, there is another group of Australians who are also subjected to abuse. There is growing evidence of abuse of older people in our society - mostly financial and/or psychological abuse - with the perpetrators most likely to be adult sons or daughters. Our commentator in Learning Works this week is Marilyn Crabtree, Chief Executive Officer of the Aged Rights Advocacy Service in South Australia.

In Learning Works this week, Tony Ryan speaks with Jock Murphy, the Collection Services Manager at the State Library of Victoria, which holds a display of Ned Kelly’s armour, and also the Jerilderie Letter with its very long and fascinating first hand account of the events of that time. In 2005 she worked as a locum at a teaching hospital in Dharan in eastern Nepal. Building Leadership in Australian Schools
Leadership in Australian schools has changed greatly from the days of the austere and authoritarian headmaster. To coincide with the release of a major resource for educational leaders in Australia, Tony Ryan speaks with Louise Bywaters about our understandings of leadership in Australian schools, and about the leadership role that beginning teachers have from day one in the classroom. Louise Bywaters is one of Australia’s leading educational leadership specialists.
