Meet Michelle Rudd – South Australia’s Adult Educator of the Year in 2008
In this interview, recorded in her home, Michelle speaks to Tony Ryan about how her passion for art came into its rightful place in her life, how she approaches her work as a visual artist, and the joy she gets from working with her students, one of whom, Natalie, joins us to talk about the pastel work she is doing right now and how Michelle is able to bring out her hidden talents as an aspiring artist. Film Review - Australia
In his final review for 2008, our resident film reviewer John J McGowan looks at the movie Australia, with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, and also looks back to his choice of the best movies from 2008.

If you had not realized that well over 60 million people died worldwide as a result of the Spanish Flu in 1919, then this program is for you. And where did the name come from, for the flu certainly did not come from Spain. Featuring an extended interview with Professor Chris Burrell from The University of Adelaide. Repeat.

Mental Health First Aid
With Naomi Madsen, from Relationships Australia. This program was recorded during a conference in mid-2008 at Hackham West south of Adelaide, for workers from neighbourhood and community houses around South Australia. Repeat.

Hans Heysen
One of Australia’s greatest artists, Hans Heysen (1877 – 1968) is celebrated at the Art Gallery of South Australia, with the first major retrospective of his work in three decades. PBA FM’s Tony Ryan speaks with Rebecca Andrews, Associate Curator of Australian Paintings & Sculpture at the Art Gallery of South Australia. The exhibition closes in Adelaide on 8 February 2009, and will tour nationally in 2009 and 2010. New.

An award-winning program, featuring one of the many volunteers at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, Laine Langridge. Repeat.
Week beginning Monday 26 January
Convict Hulks
This exhibition is currently on at the Hyde Park Barracks Museum in Sydney and is a must see if you are visiting Sydney before mid-2009. Find out about life on the hulks – the prison ships on the Thames, and in some of the Australian colonies, and also in Bermuda where many of the items in this exhibit were recovered from where the hulks were moored. An Australia Day special program. Repeat.
